Jones and Nott Take Bronze at
2007 FINA World Trophy Cup
Reigning Pan American Champions Share the Stage With Russia and Spain

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Christina Jones (Fremont, Calif.) and Andrea Nott (San Jose, Calif.) made a splash on the international scene today by grabbing a bronze medal in the second annual FINA World Trophy Cup. The pair posted a score of 96.666 and is moving up after taking home fourth place last year in the inaugural event. Team USA shared the medal stand with Russia (98.334) and Spain (98.000). Jones and Nott are the reigning Pan American Games duet champions.

Competition continues Saturday with the free team event while the free combination routine will take place Sunday. The United States will look to defend its free combination title which it earned in 2006.

The three day competition is being held at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park, which was also the site of the 2007 Pan American Games. This competition is unlike any other FINA event as it focuses primarily on artistic impression. The format includes the duet, team and combination routine events and will crown an overall winner based on the highest sum of results. The Brazilian Synchronized Swimming Federation is serving as host to the elite international competition.

Friday, October 12 Duet Free Competition

Sunday, October 14 Free Combination Competition

The U.S. National Team was named in April of 2007. The Team solidified its Olympic Games berth by earning gold medals in both the team and duet events at the 2007 Pan American Games.
