Team USA Returns to
Rio de Janeiro for
2007 FINA World Trophy Cup
Reigning Pan American Champions to Appear
in Second Annual FINA World Trophy Cup
Indianapolis, Ind. - The U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Team will head to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to appear in the second annual FINA World Trophy Cup held Oct. 12-14. Team USA is no stranger to the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park, which was the site of the 2007 Pan American Games.
The competition which will focus on artistic impression, will consist of the duet, team and combination routine events and will crown an overall winner based on the highest sum of results. The Brazilian Synchronized Swimming Federation will serve as host to the elite international meet.
Christina Jones (Fremont, Calif.) and Andrea Nott (San Jose, Calif.) will represent the United States in the duet competition on Oct. 12, while the team competition will take place Oct. 13. The meet will conclude on Oct. 14 with the free combination event. The United States will look to defend its free combination title which it earned in the inaugural event held last year.
The U.S. National Team was named in April of 2007. The Team solidified its Olympic Games berth by earning gold medals in both the team and duet events at the 2007 Pan American Games.
