Concludes in Cleveland
Senior Competition Makes a Splash on Friday

Cleveland, Ohio – The Junior portion of the 2008 U.S. Open Synchronized Swimming Championships concluded today at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium. The Senior portion of the meet will begin on Friday while the free combination routine will highlight Thursday’s competition. The event has attracted more than 100 of the nation’s top synchronized swimmers as well as notable international talent from Brazil, Canada and Mexico. Athletes are competing for titles in the solo, duet, trio and team events. The meet will conclude on July 19 with senior finals.

In the Junior solo competition, Rebecca Maule of Team Ontario-Canada took the top spot on the podium while Santa Clara’s Morgan Fuller placed second. In the Junior duet final, Maule teamed up with Rachel Kowalski for the first-place finish while Morgan Thomas and Kayley Colville (Santa Clara) finished in the second-place position.

In the trio finals, Fuller joined teammates Megan Azebu and Katie Wellman for the gold medal. Arizona Aqua Stars’ Alexandra Beckett, Jamie Flanery and Jessica Webb took home second-place. In the team competition, Team Ontario-Canada claimed the top spot with an 85.667 while the Arizona Aqua Stars took home the silver medal with a mark of 84.833.

Tickets are priced at $10 per day for adults and $5 per day for youth for finals. All semi final competition is free. Admission to the entire event can be purchased for $30 for adults and $15 for youth.
