Indianapolis, Ind. – The U.S. Junior National Team as well as representatives from several other countries will gather in Waipahu, Hawaii, for the 2007 U.S. Open Synchronized Swimming Championships. The event will take place July 15-21 at the Central Oahu Regional Park Pool.
The elite international competition will attract more than 200 of the nation’s top synchronized swimmers as well as notable international talent. Athletes will vie for titles in the solo, duet, trio and team events in the Junior and Senior Divisions. The event will also include the fan-favorite combination routine, which incorporates five different routines into one seven-minute program.
Club teams from the United States will compete against several other countries including Canada and Puerto Rico for this seven-day event. The 2007 U.S. Junior National Team will also be thrown into the mix of top competition in the Junior Division. The Junior National Team was selected in May and is currently training at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Members of the Junior National Team include Madison Crocker (Weston, Conn.), Katherine Green (Indianapolis, Ind.), Maria Koroleva (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Anna Nelson (Stillwater, Minn.), Javeneh Nikbakht (San Jose, Calif.), Nadia Rais (San Jose, Calif.), Corinne Smith (Ridgefield, Conn.), Kenyon Smith (Boulder, Colo.), Kimiko Urata (Juneau, Alaska) and Alison Williams (Canoga Park, Calif.).
There will be a $10.00 admission fee for adults. Senior citizens and youth will be charged $5. Kids ages five and under are free.
Junior Finals will take place Wednesday, July 18 beginning at 11:15 a.m., while the Senior Finals will be held Saturday, July 21 starting at 10:00 a.m.
