Synchro Masters Ready to Make Waves
2005 U.S. Masters Championship held in Clermont, Fla. Oct. 20-23
Clermont, Fla. - The 2005 U.S. Masters Synchronized Swimming Championships will get underway Thursday at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla. The 31st annual event will feature some of the world's top Masters synchronized swimmers ranging between the ages of 20 to 85+ years old, as they vie for overall team and individual titles in the solo, duet, trio and team events.
The Southern California Unsyncables will return in search of their sixth U.S. Masters title after claiming the 2004 crown in Roseville, Calif. They will have close competition as last year's first runner-up MAC Synchro (Ore.) and third place finisher Dayton Synchronettes will both be competing in Clermont.
Competition begins on Thursday and features the solo competition, while the technical duet and trio events highlight Friday. Saturday will include the free duet and trio events along with the technical team routines. The championships will conclude on Sunday with the free team and combo competitions .
Synchronized Swimming requires a combination of strength, precision, grace and teamwork, which proves to be a preferred fitness activity for older adults by leading sports medicine professionals.
