Stanford Sweeps Fourth Consecutive
U.S. Collegiate Synchronized Swimming Championships

Columbus, Ohio – Stanford University scored 94 points en route to winning its fourth consecutive U.S. Collegiate Synchronized Swimming Championships. Host Ohio State University captured second place with 87 points while Canisius College took home third place with 70 points.
Saturday was highlighted by finals action in the solo, duet, trio and team events. Stanford swept three of four events while Ohio State took home the gold medal in the team event with a score of 98.500.
Sara Lowe of Stanford University secured the top spot in the solo event with a 96.833. Lowe shared the medal stand with Natalia Tarasova from Canisius College (95.167) who took home the silver medal and Barbara Nesbitt of the Ohio State University (94.833) who grabbed bronze. Lowe also earned the USSS High Point Athlete of the Year honors.
In the trio event, Lowe teamed up with Melissa Knight and Courtenay Stewart to earn the top spot with a score of 96.500. The Cardinal was followed by Ohio State’s Barbara Nesbitt, Caitlin Stewart and Michelle Theriault (95.000).
Stanford’s Lowe and Stewart paired up once again to sweep the duet final with a score of 97.333. Canisius’ Natalia Tarasova and Yulia Shepeleva grabbed the silver medal with a 96.000 while Stanford’s Poppy Carlig and Melissa Knight secured the bronze medal with a mark of 95.000.
The event marked the 32 nd U.S. Synchronized Swimming Collegiate National Championships, which are an open-class meet, combining competition from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and NAIA colleges and universities.
