Federal Way, Wash. - Over 1,000 athletes will invade the Weyerhaeuser King Aquatic Center for the nation's largest Synchronized Swimming Championships. The 2006 Esynchro U.S. Age Group National Championships will kick off June 24 and will run through July 1. The grassroots competition will feature up-and-coming junior athletes along with several reigning age group national champions. Swimmers will compete for titles in the solo, duet, trio and team events in four age groups: 12-13, 14-15, 16-17 and 18-19. The championship which is hosted by the Pacific Northwest Association includes eight days of competition and carries an estimated economic impact of more than $1.3 million. The Seattle area is no stranger to this event as it played host to the meet in 2002. ### |
