Seven International Teams Set to Compete at U.S. Open
U.S. National Team II and Junior National Team competing as well

Indianapolis, IN-- Seven countries will come together in San Diego, Calif., for the U.S. Open Synchronized Swimming Championships at the Poway Community Swim Center, July 11-16.

This elite caliber, international competition attracts more than 350 of the nation's top synchronized swimmers as well as top international contenders. Each will vie for titles in solo, duet, trio and team events in the 14-15, 16-18 and Open divisions. Routines will also include the fan-favorite combination routine, which incorporates five different routines into one seven-minute program.

The United States will meet Singapore, Canada, Puerto Rico, China, Japan, and Chile for this six-day event. 2005 U.S. Junior National Team, and 2005 U.S. National Team II will also be competing. The two teams were selected earlier this spring and have been training for the last two months together. Some members of the two teams will not only compete in the team competitions but the other events as well.

Members of National Team II include Heather Burdick (Columbus, Ohio), Poppy Carlig (Richmond, Calif.), Danielle Kramer (Mentor, Ohio), Jessica McMahon (Queen Creek, Ariz.), Barbara Nesbitt (Riverside, Calif.), Katherine Norris (Carmichael, Calif.), Leah Pinette (Bristol, Conn.), Leayn Pinette (Bristol, Conn.), Alicia Rice (Cincinnati, Ohio), Layla Smith (San Jose, Calif.).

Members of the Junior National Team include Brooke Abel (Northridge, Calif.), Erin Bell (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Debbie Chen (Cerritos, Calif.), Meghan Kinney (Riverside, Calif.), Diana LaScala-Gruenewald (Lafayette, Calif.), Lauren Oiye (San Jose, Calif.), Jillian Penner (Seattle, Wash.), Deborah Shim (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Michelle Theriault (North Hills, Calif.), Carolyn Watts (San Jose, Calif.).

Ticket prices are, Wednesday, July 13, $12; Saturday, July 16, $10 at the door.
