Close Finishes in Senior Finals
U.S. Team II Wins Senior Team and Team Combo

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Open wrapped up Saturday with the Team Combo Final and Senior Finals in the solo, duet, trio and team events.

The day began with the United States capturing the gold in the Team Combo Routine edging Canada scoring a 93.500 to their 93.333. The Riverside Aquettes (Calif.) placed third with an 87.500. The team combo routine incorporates three to six different routines into a five-minute program.

Senior Finals followed beginning with the trio competition. Only five entries made up the Senior trio division and the standings remained the same at the top throughout the competition. Rachel Sinn, Alandi Stec-Neifert and Jeanine Wurzel, of the Walnut Creek Aquanuts (Calif.) took first after posting a composite score of 81.918. Jayme DeLancy, Esme Louiws and Leayn Pinette, New Canaan (Conn.) finished second with a 79.834, while Redwood Empire’s (Calif.) Jennifer Graham, Megan Kinney and Christina Menth placed third scoring a 76.167.

Tanya Matson and Jessica Outhwaite of Canada took top honors in the duet final posting a 91.167. The United States’ duos of and Kate Hooven (Pleasanton, Calif.) and Becky Kim (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and Janet and Jennie Culp (Littleton, Colo.) finished second and third with scores of 90.334 and 89.751 respectively.

The solo finals came down to the wire as last year’s second place finisher, Kim Probst (Troy, NY) of the United States, edged out Canada’s MariePier Boureau Gagnon by 0.667 for gold. Probst scored a 92.084, while Gagnon posted a 91.417. Aleksandra Lazovic of Seattle finished a distant third at 83.084.

The day closed with the Senior team final. In a close race, the United States held on to top Canada scoring a final composite 92.751. Canada finished at 91.417. Walnut Creek took the bronze with an 86.667.
