The Race Heats Up for Tomorrow’s Finals The race continues … The competition heats up as six different teams hold down the top spots in all eight events before figures heading into tomorrow’s 16-17 and 18-19 final competitions. The last two events of the 18-19 age group wrapped up today with the trio and duet semi-final competitions. Trios kicked off the day with Tonawanda’s Sylvia Syracuse, Alison Lowes, and Jackie Gramlich taking top honors scoring an 81.000. Teammates Susan Prinzbach, Christina Ross, and Courtney Christman placed third with a score of 80.000, while San Diego’s Kim Castagnera, Stephanie Gac, and Mandi Meditz finished second at 80.833. In the 18-19 duet semi-finals, Catherine Michelle Benzie and Julia Broadfoot, San Diego, last year’s 16-17 bronze medalists, top the field by more than two points after posting an 83.833. Arizona’s Heidi McMahon, and Christine McMaster sit in second at 81.000. After a 2003 third place finish in the 16-17 solo competition, New Canaan’s Jayme Delancy holds down the top spot after semi-finals scoring an 83.500. Hannah Ozer of the Austin Angelfish sits in second after posting an 82.833, while Santa Clara’s Deanna Schmitz finished third with an 82.500.
