The Race To The Podium Is On In Teams. . .
16-17, 18-19 Continues Friday

The 16-17 and 18-19 team competition heated up Thursday with the top three teams in each age group scoring all within 1.000 point of each other.

The Midwest teams took top honors in the team event. In the 16-17 age group, the Cincinnati Synchrogators claimed the top spot just 0.167 points ahead of Buffalo, 82.667 to 82.500 respectively. Cerritos followed at 82.333. Swimming for Cincinnati was Sarah Beekman, Kaitlin Bolt, Annie Dillard, Abby Donselman, Claire Gamble, Lydia Sieber, Emilie Siemer, and Iliana Torres.

The 18-19 margin was slightly larger as the host team, Indy Synchro, placed first with an 85.833. Santa Clara finished 0.666 back at 85.167, while New Canaan was third at 85.000. Swimming for Indy was Katherine Green, Melody Cutsinger, Hannah Draper, Marian Hartman, Brynn Hollingsworth, Helen Lerums, Kristine Thomas, and Corenn Cookerly.

The day closed with the 18-19 solo semi-finals. Arizona’s Ashly Wenzel topped the field scoring an 83.833. San Diego’s Catherine Michelle Benze placed second with a score of 83.167, while Corenn Cookerly of Indy Synchro finished third at 82.167.

Friday’s competition begins with 18-19 trio semi-finals at 7:25 a.m. followed by 16-17 solo semi-finals at 9:10 a.m. and 18-19 duet semis at 12:15 p.m. The meet will wrap up Saturday with 16-17 and 18-19 finals beginning at 10:00 a.m.
