14-15 Finals Set
2004 Olympic Team to perform Wednesday

Riverside continued to fair well on Tuesday placing nine routines in the 14-15 final competition at the 2004 Esynchro Age Group Synchronized Swimming Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.

Aquettes’ Danielle DeCarlo and Alison Williams topped the field in the duet competition earning a 78.000. The Juneau Aurora Knights (Alaska) duo of Kimiko Urata and Sarah Felix placed second with a 77.333, while Riverside’s Cristina Mundy and Marissa Reynolds finished third at 76.333.

Santa Clara’s Kenyon Smith took top honors in the solo semi-final scoring a 75.833. Riverside’s DeCarlo, Laila Elsherif and Jeanine McCullough finished 2-3-4 with scores of 75.167, 74.833, and 74.667 respectively.

Semi-final scores are weighted to 50 percent and combined with 50 percent of the athlete(s)’s figures score to determine the eight finalists in each event. In the final, the 50 percent free routine semi-final score is replaced with 50 of the final routine score.

Competition continues Wednesday with 16-17 trio prelims at 7:55 a.m. followed by 16-17 duets at 11:50 a.m. The 14-15 parade of athletes and finals in all events will begin at 4:25 p.m. The 2004 Olympic Team will swim an exhibition following the finals at approximately 8:00 p.m. Bill May will perform as well.
