12-13 Semi-Finals Kick off With Duets, Trios The Riverside Aquettes took top honors on the first day of the 2004 Esynchro Age Group Synchronized Swimming Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. The Aquettes nabbed the top spot in the 12-13 duet semi-finals, with Paige Ramsey and Devon Thrasher taking top honors scoring a 73.700. Second, third, and fourth place are all within 0.200 points of each other. Walnut Creek’s duo of Kellie Stump and Brigitte Braun sit in second at 72.900 followed by the Pirouettes of Texas’ Claire Evans and Mary Killman who scored a 72.800 and Santa Clara’s Wendy Lu and Nadia Rais at 72.600. Riverside and Santa Clara tied for top honors in the trio semis. The Aquettes’ Ramsey, Lauren Nicholson, and Kristie Austin and Santa Clara’s Miho Ikai, Javaneh Nikbakht, and Audrey Tseng posted scores of 71.500. The Santa Clara trio of Hallie Barnes, Cameron Hempstead, Catherine Wellman hold down third at 69.100. Semi-final scores are weighted to 50 percent and combined with 50 percent of the athlete(s)’s figures score to determine the eight finalists in each event. In the final, the 50 percent free routine semi-final score is replaced with 50 of the final routine score. Nearly 1,100 athletes are competing for titles in the solo, duet, trio and team events in four different age groups: 12-13, 14-15, 16-17 and 18-19.
