Riverside Sweeps 12-13 Finals
U.S. World Championship Team debuts routine for the finals
Buffalo, NY – A smash performance by the 2005 U.S. World Championship Team packed the Flickinger Aquatic Center this evening, rounding out the final competition for the 12-13 age group.
The Riverside Aquettes swept gold in three out of four events. The team won solo, trio and team, while taking bronze in duet. The Walnut Creek Aquanuts followed closely in final rounds, maintaining a spot in the top three in three of four events, and winning gold in duet. Local club, The Tonawanda Aquettes placed eighth in the team finals.
While the 14-15 semifinals pressed on, the Nevada Desert Mermaids nabbed a first place finish in the duet semis, and Santa Clara leads the way for 14-15 team semifinals once again, scoring 78.500. Other front runners include Riverside Aquettes and Seattle Synchro in duet, and New Canaan Y Aquianas and Suncoast Waterworks in team.
Competition continues Tuesday with 14-15 finals. Admission is $6.00 for the public at Buffalo’s Flickinger Aquatic Center.
Preliminary scores are weighted to 50 percent and combined with 50 percent of the athlete(s)'s figures score to determine the eight finalists in each event. In the final, the 50 percent free routine prelim score is replaced with 50 of the final routine score.
