Walnut Creek, Riverside Take 12-13 Finals

The Walnut Creek Aquanuts topped the field in solo, duet and trio, while the Riverside Aquettes took the team title in the 12-13 final events at the 2003 Esynchro Age Group Synchronized Swimming Championships in Gainesville, Fla.

Aquanuts Maria Koroleva, Yacaira O'Connor and Seyeon Min kicked off the night taking gold in the trio competition with a composite score of 70.964. Riverside's Amanda Cook, Brittney Miller and Marissa Reynolds finished second at 69.278. Min later added solo gold with a score of 72.263 edging teammate Olivia Morgan by 0.840 at 71.423.

Koroleva and Morgan paired up in duet for a 71.406 to take the duet title. Aquettes Danielle DeCarlo and Jeanine McCullough took second scoring a 70.942.

Riverside closed out the night winning the team competition. The Aquettes entered the final with a slim lead over Walnut Creek. They extended that lead taking gold scoring a 71.668 to the Aquanuts' 71.373. Swimming for Riverside was Ashley Bennett, Amanda Cook, Danielle DeCarlo, Jeanine McCullough, Brittney Miller, Marissa Reynolds, Devon Thrasher, and Rebecca Vosler. Santa Clara finished third two and one half points back at 68.838.

Preliminary scores are weighted to 50 percent and combined with 50 percent of the athlete(s)'s figures score to determine the eight finalists in each event. In the final, the 50 percent free routine prelim score is replaced with 50 of the final routine score.
