SPEEDO Synchro Swimmer of the Quarter

WHAT: The SPEEDO Synchro Swimmer of the Quarter identifies and honors synchronized swimmers who exemplify the highest standards of academic integrity, citizenship, and volunteer and community service. Award recipients will receive a certificate from SPEEDO and a $500 scholarship from U.S. Synchronized Swimming in honor of their selection by SPEEDO. The award is to be used for necessary expenses associated with the recipients educational or synchro training.
WHERE: The SPEEDO Synchro Swimmer of the Quarter will be recognized by SPEEDO and USSS in Synchro Swimming USA magazine and on the official U.S. Synchronized Swimming web site for the three-month quarter immediately following the quarter for which the athlete was chosen.
ELIGIBILITY: Any registered, competitive member of U.S. Synchronized Swimming at least 12 years old who is currently enrolled in, or was previously enrolled in, a school, college, or other educational institution for the academic term immediately following or preceding the award quarter. Nominees must have maintained at least a B+ average on a letter grade scale, or a 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, for all courses in the two academic terms immediately preceding the award quarter. Athletes are limited to one award; however, athletes not selected in one quarter may be nominated for as many successive quarters so long as the athlete continues to meet all eligibility requirements stated above. New nomination packets must be submitted for each quarter in which the nominee wishes to be considered. The nomination letter may only be submitted by the athletes coach. This award is in compliance with all NCAA athlete eligibility guidelines as outlined in NCAA rule 12.1.1.4.4.
NOMINATIONS: Nominees are to submit the following three items, fully completed with original signatures. Only complete nomination packets will be considered. Complete packets may be no longer than six pages.
- An official "SPEEDO Synchro Swimmer of the Quarter Nomination Form." Photocopied forms are acceptable so long as all signatures are original.
- A one-page letter of nomination from the athletes coach, describing the athletes citizenship, volunteer and community involvement.
- A paragraph statement from the athlete explaining why she or he should be considered for the award, and how the scholarship will be used.
- (Optional) Any supporting letters of recommendation from community representatives, copies of awards, newspaper articles, or other supplementary materials that document the athletes credentials, not to exceed three pages. Athletic accomplishments will not factor into the selection committees decision.
